One February in Minnesota, I was performing in the world premiere of Ysaye's Eighth Violin Concerto. My husband Bill was conducting.
During the first movement, a beetle carefully started to take a walk on the stick of the bow I was playing. It was traveling toward the tip of the bow. Between the first and second movements I looked for the beetle but couldn't find it. As soon as the music started again, there was the beetle walking on the horsehair between the hair and the stick. It was amazing how it was able to continue even into the fast last movement. Then it climbed onto my right hand where it stayed until the end of the concerto.
