WSO Sponsorship
full concert sponsor ... $5,000
Williamsport Symphony Orchestra is a pillar of creative industry for the city, the valley and beyond.
The City of Williamsport has been blessed with community orchestras since the nineteenth century, and the WSO has grown to become a stand-out orchestra in a small city. The WSO has received special recognition from the League of American Orchestras (formerly known as the American Symphony Orchestra League), and has been awarded thrice by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The WSO is committed to performance, and also to education. The Student Outreach Program brings over 600 middle- and high-school-age students to what may be their first exposure to a symphony concert. The annual Young Artists’ Competition gives aspiring young people a platform for music career advancement. Master classes and workshops are given by our renowned guest artists, in conjunction with WSO concerts. Dr. Gary Boerckel gives Pre-Concert Talks, and Meet the Maestro luncheons allow adults to learn more about the music.
Currently, the WSO produces over twenty-one events a year (not including radio, television, and web broadcasts). Members of the WSO include award-winning authors, composers, educators, entertainers, and recording artists. They have been engaged in music projects heard around the world, from major film sound tracks to working with artists ranging from Mantovani to the legends of Motown. The “collective pedigree” of the WSO involves thousands of hours in music education and performance.
