WSO Corporate Sponsorship
An engine for the community, the economy, and education ... and for your business.
community
Access to culture and recreation are part and parcel of civic pride. Geisinger Medical Center and Susquehanna Health Systems promote Williamsport Symphony Orchestra as “a cultural heartbeat” in their recruitment of medical professionals to this area. Every year the WSO gives the community a Free Family Concert and six free “Pops in the Park” concerts, with country, jazz, pop, and orchestral music at no charge to thousands of listeners.
economy
The non-profit arts industry generates $166.2 billion in national economic activity [source: 2007 report from Americans for the Arts]. Each WSO concert series pumps up to $1.5 million into the local economy (not including tax revenue). Our concerts trigger revenue for restaurants, gas stations, clothing stores, and other businesses. The WSO is a work source for over one hundred educators, professional entertainers, media specialists, and technicians.
education
The WSO’s Student Outreach Program introduces over 600 area middle school students to WSO concerts at the Community Arts Center. Regional college students attend WSO concerts free of charge. The Youth Orchestra gives aspiring young musicians an opportunity to excel under the guidance of renowned directors. Award-winning guest artists give master classes and workshops to students. For adults, there are Meet the Maestro luncheons and Pre-Concert Talks with Dr. Gary Boerckel.
